In Malaysia, giant freshwater river prawns are highly sought after. It is considered a delicacy and a prestigious food that is something nearly all Malaysians would love to eat.  These giant prawns are an expensive treat that are a rare source of indulgence and they are now gracing the plates of gourmands around the region.

As these giant prawns are really big-headed, there is relatively little meat for the size of the prawn.  Instead, the real treasure lies within the head.  The yellow orange blob of butter-looking thing in the head is what eating these prawns are all about!  Almost like shrimp butter, creamy and rich with a taste and flavour that is out of this world.  The lucky ones who have had a chance to eat these prawns have said that putting a spoonful of this shrimp butter into the mouth was life changing!
